Police members of Operation Restore, deployed in Harare for high density crime prevention duties, arrested two suspects aged 29 and 31 for possession of drugs on Sunday, 25 June 2023.
While deployed in Harare area, members received information about drug related activities in Makhaza and Sinako informal settlements respectively. The information was operationalized and the members searched both addresses. Two male persons were arrested, separately at each premises after a consignment of drugs was found (tik, mandrax and ecstasy).
Both suspects were arrested on charges of possession of drugs. Once charged they will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter, on 25 June 2023 at approximately 22:00, members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit followed up on information received regarding possible firearms and drugs at a residence in Maureen Crescent, Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain. Upon searching the premises, the members found 2000 Mandrax tablets on the premises.
A 44-year-old male person was arrested for the possession of drugs and will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court.
