The continuous assistance of community members who are taking a firm stance against gangsterism in their communities, led to the arrest of four men in possession of a prohibited and unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Police members stationed at Harare SAPS responded to a complaint of intimidation on Monday 12 June 2023. Upon their arrival at the address in Mandela Park, they dealt with the complaint and proceeded with a search of the premises. Their efforts were rewarded when they confiscated a Z88 9mm pistol with ammunition hidden underneath a pillow in the bedroom. They arrested and detained a 42-year-old man on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile Kraaifontein Police responded to information and searched an address in Vera Street in the early hours of Tuesday 13 June 2023. Their persistence paid off when they recovered a 9mm pistol and a .38 special revolver with ammunition. They proceeded to arrest two male suspects on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
In an unrelated incident police members followed up on information and entered a premises in David Street earlier this morning, Tuesday 13 June 2023. The members responded rapidly and upon arrival searched the entire premises. The search led to the confiscation of a 9mmm pistol with ammunition. They arrested and detained the suspect on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Strand and Blue Downs Magistrate courts on the mentioned charges.
