Review of the News About the Future Facelifted Renault Clio for South Africa

Renault plans to launch the facelifted Renault Clio in South Africa towards the end of 2024. This upgrade may seem too soon because Renault just launched the fifth-generation model in February 2022. Renault’s launch of the current model should have happened before the pandemic, and hence the delay. 1

So, what does the facelifted Renault Clio look like?

The new facelift makes Clio’s front end look much bolder due to a new front diffuser, narrower LED lights, and chrome grille. The brand’s new logo is brushed chrome, while newly designed LED daytime running lights extend from the headlights to the bumper. 1

Other notable features

Depending on the choice of model, some features include 17-inch alloy wheels and a shark-fin antenna, while side mirrors have a matte or gloss black finish. A wide selection of colours is available for your new car. These include Arctic White, Iron Blue, Rafal Gray, Platinum Gray, Pearl Black, Decir Red, and Valencia Orange. 1

The new Clio’s interior

The French manufacturer has replaced leather seating with polyester and organic fibres for the higher trim levels. The dashboard now has a digital driver screen no larger than 10 inches, and a 9.3-inch tablet-like infotainment system. 1

More features of the hatchback

It has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, onboard navigation, and 20 new help functions. These include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and level 2 automated parking. 1

The facelifted Clio’s engine

Seeing only a facelift is involved, the engine remains the same as the previous model. The 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine generates 74 kW power and 160 Nm torque. 1

The current Clio’s performance

The current Clio does the 0-100 km/hour sprint in 11.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 187 km/hour. Fuel consumption is at 5.71 litres/100 km. The industry expects the new Clio’s performance to fall within these parameters. 1

The transmission of the facelifted Clio

Although the current Clio only has a five-speed manual transmission, it’s unknown at this stage if the manufacturer will also introduce automatic transmission when launching the facelifted Clio next year. 1

What’s the price of the new Clio?

Renault will provide details on pricing and the number of models before the South African launch. 1
