A massive breakthrough was achieved after a 45-year-old suspect was nabbed with different kinds of suspected drugs as well as suspected stolen electrical appliances in Hendrina yesterday, Monday 12 June 2023.

Police conducted a search at a certain flat where the suspect without documentation to prove his legality in the Republic of South Africa was found.

Amongst the recovered substances, 116 pinches of suspected Nyaope, five packs of suspected Crystal Meth and suspected CAT estimated at a street value of about R5 500-00.

In addition to the recovered substances, five Plasma TV sets and a projector believed to have been stolen were also seized.

Police further arrested two other foreign nationals, aged 35 and 44 after discovering that they were not having valid documentation to be in the country. The Police are working in partnership with officials from the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain the status of the three foreign nationals.

All three suspects are expected to appear in Hendrina Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Wednesday 14 June 2023.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has gladly welcomed the developments with a hope that their arrest will pave a way in reducing the challenge of drug trafficking and drug abuse “Those who abuse drugs are often caught in a trap of maintaining their habit which could be costly hence some are perpetrators of housebreakings and theft, therefore closing the market through arresting alleged peddlers and refraining from buying stolen properties, can be an ideal solution to our crime” said the General.
