Suspects heading to court to face drug charges

The abuse of drugs is one of the root causes of violent crime, and members attached to Bellville SAPS and Operation Restore, are lauded for their efforts to take drugs off the streets.

An intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect for the possession of drugs in Bellville.

Bellville SAPS members received information that a white VW polo was transporting drugs on the N1 near Bellville. The mentioned vehicle was spotted on the N1 and pulled over. The vehicle was searched and two bags containing 2000 mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R60 000 were seized. Once charged the suspect will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter today, members attached to Operation Restore received information that drugs are being sold at a premises in Clanwilliam. The members operationalised the information and upon searching the premises they found mandrax tablets wrapped in foil. A 36-year-old suspect was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs. Once charged he will appear in the Clanwilliam Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
