Crime prevention operations in the Western Cape yielded success as members of Operation Restore arrested suspects for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
On Saturday, 17 June 2023 members of Operation Restore were busy with stop and search operations in Ravensmead where sporadic shooting incidents were reported. They searched a suspicious looking man who tried to evade arrest and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in his possession. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested and detained for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The same members followed up information of three males that were walking in Christian Street, Ravensmead in possession of a firearm. The members saw the suspects in the road and stopped and searched them. They confiscated a 38 special revolver with five rounds of ammunition. The suspects aged between 21 and 28 were arrested and detained for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition
They are due to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.
