A 55-year-old suspect arrested for alleged murder, attempted murder, arson, and theft appears in court

A 55-year-old Bebeda Mmabangisenli Godfrey was arrested for cases of murder, attempted murder, arson and theft appeared before Dzanani magistrate court, today on Monday, 03 July 2023.

The suspect was remanded in custody and will appear again on 25 August 2023 for further Police investigations.

The suspect was arrested by Vhembe Trio Task Team after the Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe ordered that he be traced and arrested following the horrendous crime he committed.

According to reports an Intelligence led operation was then activated in Pretoria by Vhembe District Trio Crimes Task Team, Pretoria Moot Detectives and National Investigation Unit.

The suspect was traced and eventually arrested on 01 July 2023 at around 14:00 at his hiding place on a farm at Cullinan, in Gauteng Province.

According to information, on 31 January 2022 at about 20:00, the suspect went to his girlfriend’s house at Murunwa village in Vhulaudzi Policing area and seemingly the couple had an argument before the suspect set a one bedroom house belonging to his 37-year-old girlfriend alight. She was sleeping with her 17-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son at the time on the fateful night.

The woman and her daughter were critically injured and managed to escape, while her son Morgan Siobo Ndamulelo (10) succumbed to the injuries after being admitted to hospital.

The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS Limpopo, welcomed the arrest and praised the Operational Team for working tirelessly ensure that the suspect is behind bars.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
