Law enforcement agencies fight lawlessness in Roodepoort in the Johannesburg District

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, his provincial management, Deputy Provincial Commissioner Crime Detection, Major General Mbuso Khumalo, Johannesburg District Commissioner, Major General Max Masha, Ward Councillors, local Community Policing Forum (#CPF) members, senior officers from the police and other law enforcement agencies were on the ground last night, Saturday 08 July 2023, to fight lawlessness in Roodepoort in the Johannesburg District. More than 50 people have been arrested for crime, ranging from driving while under the influence of alcohol and undocumented persons.

Meanwhile, the detectives went out to trace #wanted suspects on the evening of Friday, 07 July 2023, until early Saturday morning, 08 July 2023. A total of 720 suspects, who have been on the run after committing serious and violent crimes, were arrested.

High-density Operation Shanela remains stubborn in its pursuit of #SaferCommunities through regular stop and searches, vehicle checkpoints, roadblocks, cordon and searches, high visibility patrols including foot patrols, the tracing of wanted suspects with a focus on the apprehension of murder and rape suspects, compliance inspections at liquor outlets as well as second hand good dealers.

Working closely with other law enforcement agencies and various role players, the SAPS can collectively ensure that our communities are and feel safe and secure.
