Multiple suspects arrested for possession of illegal firearms, drugs as well as being wanted on criminal charges

The vigilance of members attached to Operation Restore who conducted high density patrols in Philippi East, yielded positive results with the arrests of suspects who were found in possession of illegal firearms as well as being wanted on criminal charges.

On Sunday, 30 July 2023 at about 21:00, the members received and operationalised information received about drugs being sold at an address situated in Grave Yard, New Eisleben. The members pounced on the premises and ensued with a search. They accosted a male person who was searched and found in possession of a small quantity of tik and mandrax tablets in his possession. He also carried a 42 cm television set of which he could not give account of. The 31-year-old man was arrested on charges for the possession of drugs as well as the possession of presumed stolen property.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court, once charged.

Earlier the same day, the members of Operation Restore followed up on information about two suspects who were wanted by Delft SAPS for an array of charges ranging from Extortion, Intimidation and Robbery aggravated which were perpetrated during June 2023. The information by members of the community led the team to an address situated in Sassi Court, Leiden, Delft where they apprehended both suspects. During the takedown of the two, the member seized an imitation firearm and a police name badge.

The members subsequently arrested the duo aged 37 and 34 years old who is scheduled to make their first courtly appearance when charged for the mentioned wanted cases. They also face charges related to the possession of an imitation firearm and presumably stolen property.

In another incident, the in Hawekwa Street in Leiden Delft where they arrested a 21-year-old man after they found and confiscated imitation 9mm pistol and magazine in his possession.

All these suspects are scheduled to make their court appearances in the Bluedowns Magistrates’ court, once charged.
