Suspect arrested with drugs valued at R15 000 in Standerton

A 50-year-old Emeka Moscow Ani was reminded in custody following his court appearance after he was arrested for dealing in drug.

Ani appear at the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today, 28 July 2023 after he was arrested by the Police with assortment of suspected substances valued at about R15 000 on street value. He is expected to appear before the same court on 04 August 2023.

Police report indicates that the Standerton and Ermelo K9 Unit reacted to information gathered by Standerton Crime Intelligence about a man suspected to be dealing in drugs yesterday, Thursday 27 July 2023 at about 11h30 am.

According to information, the suspect was utilising a silver Hyundai Atos and was at the central business district in Standerton.

Police identified the possible suspect who was found with about 99 sachets of substances suspected to be Nyaope, weighing about 72 grams, two sachets of substances suspected to be Crystal Meth, weighing about 14 grams and seven sachets of substances suspected to be Cat, weighing about 18 grams.

The male suspect was arrested and the recovered substances as well as his vehicle were confiscated for further investigation.

Police are working in collaboration with the department of Home Affairs to ascertain his status in South Africa.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela indicated that the Police will continue to work with communities in addressing the challenge of drug peddling. Successes were achieved in various areas of the province, including Standerton and these hype of activities will be ongoing where members of the public are urged to inform the authorities if they have information of drug trafficking.
