Swift response by police through intelligence gathered leads to arrest of seven suspects for burglaries and theft

The South African Police Service in Modimolle through intelligence driven operations have arrested seven male suspects aged between 23 and 61 for burglaries and theft on Thursday, 06 July 2023.

The police received intelligence from a contact person who have witnessed the two incidents of burglaries at residential premises and theft of motor vehicles at a farm in Modimolle.

Members of Modimolle Crime Intelligence and Detective Unit operationalized the information received that led them to Mookgophong Extension 3 where four suspects, aged 23, 28, 38 and 39, were arrested after being found in possession of the goods reported stolen from a farm. The goods recovered at Mookgophong Extension 3 amongst others are a one Trailer, one Honda motorcycle, one Plasma TV set, one Toshiba laptop, six Tyres, two Air Compressers, two Power generators, one homelite, one Welding machine, one Mattress, Beddings, one Electrical extension cable, Garden equipment and tools.

The operation was extended to Mookgophong Extension 2 subsequently a 49-year-old South African Citizen male suspect was arrested in connection with the burglaries and theft.

The vehicle a silver Toyota Camry that is believed to have been used in the commission of the crime has been confiscated for further investigations.

In addition to this incident two South African citizens male suspects aged 28 and 61 were arrested on Thursday, 06 July 2023, in possession of suspected stolen goods in Mokopane during a stop and search operation. The goods were positively linked with the burglaries and theft occurred at the farm in Modimolle.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe hailed the teams involved in the investigation that led to the arrest and recovery of stolen goods.

The seven arrested suspects are expected to appear before Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 July 2023 facing charges of possession of suspected stolen goods, burglary residential and theft of motor vehicle.
