The Tactical Response Team arrested a suspect with a rifle after receiving intelligence-led information.
On Wednesday 23 August 2023 at about 22:45, members of the Parkroad TRT Section 5 received intelligence led information about a person in possession of an unlicensed firearm at a block of flats in Brandwag.
The team quickly acted on the information, which led them to Brandwag Flats in Nelson Mandela Drive. Upon arrival at one of the units, a male person, aged 31, was arrested after police found an antique rifle, a stun grenade, 60 R5 live ammunition, five empty R5 rifle magazines and three empty R1 rifle magazines hidden under a bag in the bedroom.
The suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
