The South Africa Police Service in Limpopo led by the Waterberg District Commissioner Major General Dikeledi Mangena conducted an intensive Operation Basadi in Waterberg District on Thursday 10 August 2023.
The operations displayed the active role female Police Officers are playing in law enforcement. The operation was conducted in Mokopane Policing area and focused on combating priority crimes particularly against women and children, such as rape,domestic violence, increased visibility in
hotspot areas, wanted suspects, stop and searches for illegal items such as drugs and illegal firearms, enforcement on non-compliance on the Liquor Act.
The women in blue were derived from various police units in all five Districts of the Province and Provincial Office such as Crime Intelligence, Local Criminal Record Centre , Corporate Communications, Detectives, POCC, HRM, and Flying Squad supported by their male counterparts. The Stakeholders who participated included Traffic Officials, LEDET, Road Safety, Home Affairs, Environmental Health, Community in Blue, CPF, YCOP members as well as Private Security Companies.
The operations were manned through roadblocks along R101 road and Nyl Plaza.
The operation saw the arrest of 12 suspects for contravening the Immigration Act, one for possession and dealing in dagga, two for possession of suspected stolen property (meter tools, water pumps and a grinder). In addition, 51 fines were issued for contravening the Road Traffic Act (RTA) and 02 fines for none compliance on Liquor Act, 01 for transporting illegal immigrants and R1600-00 fine issued, 01 unroadworthy motor vehicle impounded. The other fines were issued for selling expired food, possession of illicit cigarettes and possession of dangerous weapons.
Police also confiscated liquor, dagga, illicit cigarettes and dangerous weapons.

The Provincial Commissioner of LImpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the men and women in blue for the joint efforts which paid off as Police’ presence was felt in the area when members executed their duties diligently with Safety.
