Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Maj Gen Vuyisile Ncata applauded the excellent work of our women in law enforcement in the metro who have shown unparalleled dedication and competence in taking charge of operational duties during this Women’s month.
In the last two weeks, successful roadblocks and vehicle check points were conducted by women which included women from the SAPS, Provincial and Metro traffic and the Department of Home Affairs (Immigration). The latest roadblock took place on Friday, 11 August 2023 on the N2 near Colchester. A total of 106 law enforcement women showcased their professionalism, competence and diversity of skills in the operational environment.
A total of 29 fines relating to traffic offences were issued to motorists. The monetary value amounted to R29 600-00. Approximately 328 vehicles were searched for firearms, drugs and suspected stolen property. Truck drivers especially foreign nationals were also screened for legal documentation.
The motorists were very cooperative and commended the women for a professional set up which did not hamper the free flow of traffic.
Maj Gen Ncata praised the women for their dedication to upholding the law. ‘Your accomplishments are indicative that there are no limits to achieving success and stereotypes and gender barriers can be broken. May you continue to inspire us with your dedication, resilience and professional service to our communities and for being excellent examples of empowerment and leadership,’ added Maj Gen Ncata.
