Deceased Discovered Twelve Hours After Shooting: Mhlasini – KZN

The body of a 26-year-old man was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in Mhlasini – KZN this morning (Saturday).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 10:32. They were led to a footpath at the rear of a building being constructed where the body of a male was located. The deceased was in a state of Rigor Mortis. On examination, he was found to have sustained gunshot injuries to his abdomen, back and legs. When Reaction Officers made enquiries, it was established that the victim lived in the area.

Reaction Officers also attended to a shooting incident in the nearby vicinity at approximately 22:30 last night (Friday) where a 35-year-old man was shot in the abdomen (picture 3). The victim was transported to hospital privately prior to the arrival of First Responders. Residents informed Reaction Officers that multiple shots were fired by the fleeing gunman. A 9mm cartridge (picture 2) was recovered at the scene. The community were unaware that a second person had been shot and only discovered his body twelve (12) hours later.

Both shootings are believed to be related.
