Limpopo Provincial Commissioner orders a probe into alleged illegal operations by Security Companies

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered an immediate launch of Operation VHUYISA MULAYO NA VHUDZIKI(Restore order) to probe into the possible existence of Security Companies operating fraudulently in the Province. This Operation comes after several complaints of corruption and extortion by the companies in which business communities were allegedly targeted and forced to form part of through a large amount of money.

The Task team has commenced with the investigation of these activities in various parts of the Province.

This will come as a big relief to the Business people who have been targets for some time.

The Investigation Teams which include SAPS various Units, Crime Intelligence (CI), Tactical Response Team (TRT,) Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) Law Enforcement, Firearm Liquor and Second Hand goods (FLASH) National as well as Provincial will focus on verification and the validity of the Security Companies in operating in the area.

Anyone who might have been subjected or who might have had experience of being extorted of a large sum of money by any means is urged to report to the Police on Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or to the nearest Police Station or use MySAPS App.

The Province, for some time also experienced incidents of kidnapping where large amounts of ransom was demanded to guarantee the safe return of the loved one.

A total of four Security Companies which were visited and two were found to be operating not in line with the PSIRA Act in that they were operating without an office or fixed Structure.

Two firearms were also seized for further investigation.

The Police Investigation is continuing.
