Man discovered hanging in Brindhaven

A man was discovered hanging in his rented home on Croton Road in Brindhaven – KZN by Reaction Officers during a wellness check this morning.

His landlord contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting a wellness check on his tenant. According to the caller, he was contacted by an employee of a call centre in Umhlanga – KZN after his tenant forwarded suicidal messages to a colleague after he was unable to settle a loan.

Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics responded in force in an attempt to prevent the man from acting on his threats. On arrival, Officers entered the yard and approached the basement. The sliding door was ajar and the man was discovered hanging from an extension cord bound to an overhead sewer pipe.

He showed no signs of life and was declared deceased by Medics. The deceased is estimated to be approximately thirty five (35) years old.

He recently relocated from Johannesburg – Gauteng to Durban – KZN.
