Burglary suspect arrested in Oaklands

An 18 year old drug user was arrested shortly after he attempted to break into a residence on Everegreen Circle in Oaklands – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received an anonymous tip off of a burglary in progress. All available Reaction Officers were dispatched and on approach of the property noticed the suspect fleeing. Officers pursued and apprehended him.

Upon inspection of the property, Reaction Officers discovered a bedroom window damaged. The teenager informed RUSA Members that he fled after he attracted attention from neighbours. During further questioning, he stated that he supported his drug addiction by committing petty thefts but today decided to break into a house.

The suspect was placed under arrest and detained at SAPS Verulam.
