One of four suspects involved in a robbery was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in the Verulam CBD – KZN this afternoon (Saturday).
A member of the public arrived at RUSA HQ at approximately 16:57 requesting assistance. According to the man, he witnessed four (4) men robbing and attempting to stab two (2) pedestrians on the George Sewpersad Street bridge.
Available Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival met with the two victims. They pointed out the suspects fleeing along the R102 and into the Verulam Bus Rank. RUSA Members pursued and apprehended one (1) of the robbers.
He was positively identified by both victims and the member of the public who sought assistance from RUSA. The stolen Samsung A04 was not recovered. One of the victims sustained multiple minor lacerations to his body after he defended himself during the attack. He did not require immediate medical attention.
The suspect was handed over to the Verulam SAPS for further investigation.
