The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers, conducted a by-laws enforcement operation, around the Crystal Park, Putfontein, Clovedene areas.
The officers received a complaint about illegal vagrants who are alleged to be using illegal substances and attempting to rob passing community members on Putfontein Road in the Chief Luthuli Squatter Camp. On the Officer’s arrival, they found two (2) males at an open veld, and they were asked to move to a safe place. Thereafter, the Officers responded to a concerning matter of society utilizing an open field at Kerk Street in Putfontein) as dumping site.
After witnessing an out-of-hand situation against the cleanliness of Councils land, the Officers immediately involved the City of Ekurhuleni Waste Department, to clear the field and to place notification boards of contraventions (No Dumping), planning to legally penalize those caught.
Furthermore, discovered new traders who were operating without trading permits and poor hygiene, housekeeping and without certificate of acceptance were given verbal warnings and advised to apply at designated places.
Several notices were issued to traders who were first warned and ignored the officers, and still operated businesses without the necessary documentation. Some illegal traders were closed down immediately as they portrait something else, buying and selling of gold but on the officer’s arrival nothing was found on the premises.
