Between Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October 2023 from 08:00 to 14h00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) Officers, raised an awareness on Road Transport Law Enforcement, at the
Springs and Tsakane Taxi Ranks, in commemoration of the Transport Month.
As launched and highlighted by the Minister of Transport, this years theme is “Siyakha, We are Building”, the EMPD wasted no time in engaging public transport services, on road transport law enforcement, aimed at promoting safer public transport services and helping to curb the number of fatalities, on our public roads. Officers not only interacted with taxi owners and drivers but, also with commuters or passengers who make use of these services, on a daily basis.
Furthermore, Officers gave a detailed explanation of how everyone has a vital role to play, when it comes to road safety and road public transport. A clear understanding was shared on what role Officers play, with regards to road traffic, road transport and how all parties can work together, in creating safer roads throughout the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).
