The EMPD to raise awareness this Transport Month in the City of Ekurhuleni

The Minister of Transport Sindisiwe Chikunga officially launched this year’s Transport Month under the theme, “Siyakha, we are building”.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) will also be conducting awareness campaigns, during this transport month. This is aimed at promoting awareness of integrated public transport, smart licensing centres in townships and road safety programmes within the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).

Transportation plays a crucial role in our economy through efficient, reliable and safe public transportation. With so many road fatalities, the EMPD intends to encourage and educate commuters, about playing safe on our roadways and for motorists, to adhere to rules of the road.

With schools resuming soon, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department Social Crime Prevention Unit Officers, will be conducting programmes on scholar patrols and enhancing road safety, especially for scholars, walking to and from school.

Together with members of the communities, we all need to ensure that our roads are safe for everyone. Let us preserve lives and be responsible.
