SAPS Burgersdorp recover copper wire to the value of R50 000

Swift joint efforts between the SAPS in Burgersdorp and Transnet security resulted in the recovery of copper wire worth R50 000.

SAPS members received information from Transnet security informing them about a white KIA Cerato vehicle on the Stormberg gravel road busy cutting and loading contact copper wire.

The members immediately went to the abovementioned scene and found three suspects busy stripping the wire. One suspect, aged 23 years was arrested while the other two managed to run away.

Five bundles of approximately 1m copper wire cables were found inside the motor vehicle and ten bundles of copper wire were lying next to the road.

The arrested suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
