Search for kidnapped man continues in Umlazi

The family of 24-year0old Brian Mthembu also known as Smanga is requesting public assistance to locate him.

His aunt contacted RUSA this afternoon (Wednesday) and explained that on Monday (15/11/2023), Mthembu was walking with friends near Sawela Primary School in J Section, Umlazi – KZN when he was forced at gunpoint by three men into a black vehicle. The make, model and registration of the vehicle is unknown.

His family later received a call from Mthembu who was crying. A man was heard instructing him to say goodbye to his family. Yesterday (Tuesday) at approximately 05:00, Mthembu once again made telephonic contact with his aunt.

He was crying but could not confirm his location. She heard someone threatening her nephew before the call ended. A case (104/11/2023) has been registered at the Bhekithemba SAPS.
