A bullet claims woman’s life in a tavern

What was supposed to be a happy outing did not end well when a 22-years-old woman lost her life when she was shot whilst seating in a car outside a tavern in Bushbuckridge on Saturday morning, 02 December 2023.

According to information, the victim was taken to Mapulaneng hospital with a private vehicle where she succumbed to her injuries at around 03h00 am.

It is alleged that the victim and her friends parked their vehicle next to a tavern which was already closed when they were there to buy some potato chips.

It is further alleged that the suspect who was half naked came from the tavern and instructed them to leave. Before they know it, the suspect reportedly fired several shots towards the direction of their vehicle. They quickly left the scene then on their way, they realised that the victim was bleeding and quickly rushed her to hospital where she unfortunately succumbed to the injuries.

A murder docket was registered in Bushbuckridge and a 23-year-old suspect was arrested and charged for murder. He is expected to appear before Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court today 04 December 2023. As the investigation continues, police cannot rule out possibilities of adding other charges against the suspect.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has issued a strong warning that people have to adhere to the Firearm Control Act and refrain from being trigger happy meanwhile the General applauded members for the swift arrest.
