Alleged business robbery suspects arrested and firearms recovered

Quick response and immediate activation of information led to the arrest of three alleged business robbery suspects, the recovery of two firearms with ammunition and suspected stolen goods in New Brighton earlier today, 08 December 2023.

It is alleged that at approximately 11:00 this morning, at a clothing store at a shopping centre in Bluewater Bay, three armed suspects entered the shop, demanded cell phones and fled with a bag that was filled with cell phones. The suspects fled in a white VW Golf. No one was injured and no shots were fired during the robbery.

Immediately after the robbery, SAPS Gqeberha Flying Squad members followed up on information at a house at the corners of Madala and Jabavu Street, New Brighton. One suspect noticed the SAPS members and jumped over the wall and fled. Three suspects aged between 34 and 63 years old were arrested inside the house. During the search of the property the members recovered the bag with cell phones, 2 x air time machines and two firearms (serial number filed off) with ammunition.

All the suspects were detained on charges of Business robbery and possession of prohibited firearms and illegal possession of ammunition. The suspects will appear in the Motherwell Magistrate Court on Monday, 11 December 2023.
