Manhunt launched for suspects who were involved in a cash-in-transit robbery in Mhala

The Hawks in Mpumalanga are requesting assistance from the community to locate the suspect appearing in the attached photographs. The suspect is sought in connection with a cash in transit robbery, which took place in Mhala.

It is alleged that on 17 May 2023, at about 12:25 a G4S armoured vehicle (AV) was traveling on D4394, New Forest main road. The armoured vehicle was ambushed just after Eagle petrol station. It was reported that on that day, a white Audi sedan came from behind and started shooting at the AV tyres and cab.

The AV was forced to stop and six suspects, armed with AK 47, wearing balaclavas and gloves, forced the driver and crew out of cab. They took the crews firearm and a Samsung Galaxy A11 cell phone.

The suspects forced the members to hide and the AV was bombed twice. The suspects fled the scene. The G4S members returned from their hiding places and found the community members looting the money laying around.
The driver contacted their office to report the incident. An unknown amount of cash was taken.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks is appealing to the community to provide information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects and/or descriptions of the vehicles involved in the crime by reporting to the Investigation Officer, Warrant Officer De Lange on 071 481 2815. The General assured the community that all information provided will be dealt with confidentiality.

The General concluded by warning the public to refrain from tampering with crime scenes as they expose themselves to danger, such as unexploded explosives. They also contaminate the crime scene, which can jeopardize future court processes.
