Marburg pedestrian shoots himself, robber in a scuffle

Mi7 National Group’s Armed Response teams in Port Shepstone were dispatched to the Marburg area after reports of a suspect trespassing on a residential property.

Mi7 teams responded to find that the suspect had already fled. However, a description of the suspect was obtained, and Mi7 teams patrolled the area in search of him.

Then, later in the afternoon, Mi7 teams received reports that a suspect was shot in the Merlwood area in Marburg.
When Mi7 Emergency Medical Services teams arrived on scene, they found that the man who was shot matched the description of the suspect in the previous trespassing incident.

It is believed the same man attempted to rob a pedestrian, who pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest. In the scuffle, the pedestrian also shot himself in the leg.

Mi7 medics assisted provincial EMS teams to stabilize both patients, before they were transported to hospital.
