Three intercepted on the N12 freeway for possession of a stolen vehicle

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Equestrain Unit Officers, intercepted three male suspects between the ages of 25 and 40, on the N12 freeway and the reported stolen sedan, was uncovered.

During the festive season crime prevention operation, the EMPD Officers stopped a suspicious white Audi TDI sedan, with three male occupants and the search, was conducted.

The VIN/Chassis number displayed on the front windscreen, was tested and Officers learned that, the Audi, was reported stolen, with the registered Delmas case number. The trio, were immediately handcuffed and the relevant stakeholders, were summoned to the scene, including the forensic experts, under the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The threesome, facing charges of ‘possession of a stolen vehicle’ were marched to the Benoni police station and are expected, to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon. The recovered Audi is impounded, for safekeeping and thorough investigations, are continuing.
