Members of the Maitland Flying Squad received information about a firearm safe that is laying between informal dwellings in the Malawi camp in Ravensmead on 27 December 2023.
The members conducted foot patrol and found the safe. Upon inspection the members found three rifles inside the safe.
Further investigations led the members to a premises in Vredehoek where they discovered that the house was burgled while the occupants are on vacation.
The firearms were handed in at Ravensmead SAPS for safekeeping. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
