Trio nabbed shortly after murder and carjacking incident in Tubatse

Swift response by the police jointly with a private tracking company has led to the arrest of three suspects, shortly after they allegedly stabbed a 35-year-old man to death and hijacked his vehicle in the early hours of Friday, 15 January 2023.

It is reported that on Friday at about 03:45, the victim drove to Rabacross Village in Tubatse policing area to meet with the three men who are known to him.

Upon arrival, the victim and the three men got into a heated argument and the victim produced a firearm and shot in the air. During the confrontation, one of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed the victim.

The suspects took the victim’s firearm and drove off with his rental sedan motor vehicle.

Police responded to the scene and the victim was declared dead upon arrival of the paramedics.

Tubatse Detectives with assistance of the private tracking company were able to trace the suspects to Dennilton policing area. They then requested back up and a Warrant Officer attached to Groblersdal POPS swiftly reacted.

The three suspects were nabbed following a speed car chase.

Police recovered the rented vehicle, deceased’s firearm, and the knife which was allegedly used to commit the crime.

The Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has hailed the prompt reaction and assistance of the private security company which led to the arrest of suspects and recovery of the items.

The three suspects aged between 23 and 24 are expected to appear before their respective Magistrates’ Court soon facing charges of murder, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of dangerous weapon (knife) and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.
