A 57 year old male was transported to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters at approximately 17:21. The male informed Reaction Officers that he was parked on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN at approximately 15:30 when two men approached him for a lift to Trenance Park. One of the individuals was known to him. They offered to compensate the driver R200.
The victim agreed and while proceeding to their destination, one of the suspects produced a firearm. They instructed the driver to proceed to a sugar cane plantation near Tea Estate in Inanda – KZN where they used his shoelaces to bind his hands. They thereafter robbed him of his cellphone and assaulted him before they sped off in his vehicle. The victim managed to remove his restraints and flagged down a motorist who transported him to RUSA HQ.
The male did not sustain any injury.
