Manhunt launched for a suspect in Giyani following the brutal murder of a 35-year-old woman

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has condemned the brutal killing of a 35-year-old woman, in Giyani and ordered police to track down the suspects and bring them to book.

This brutal attack took place at Mohlabaneng village on Sunday, 28 January 2024, at about 00:30.

According to the information, police received a complaint about the body of a woman who was found lying on the ground along the R81 road next to Mohlabaneng village.

Upon their arrival, they found the owner of the motor who informed them that he was transporting the deceased with the man (suspect) heading to Sefofotse village where she was residing.

It is alleged that the vehicle used by the three ran out of petrol and the motorist left to get assistance leaving his passengers with the motor vehicle.

When he returned, the passengers were nowhere to be found inside the motor vehicle that was abandoned.

Upon further searching, he came across the body of a woman who was lying next to the road a few meters from his motor vehicle.

The members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned at the scene and they confirmed that the woman succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased’s identity will be released in due course. The motive of the incident is currently unknown.

A manhunt have since been launched for the suspect and anyone with information that can assist should contact the Investigating Officer Captain Mzamane Mabunda on 066 4001 100 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App.

Police investigations are continuing.
