Stolen bakkie recovered in Parkgate

A 61 year old man has been taken in for questioning after Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) recovered a stolen vehicle at a home in Parkgate – Kwazulu Natal.

Reaction Officers who were acting on information received, were led to a residential property on Greenwood Close. A white Toyota Hilux bakkie sought on Phoenix Cas. 178/01/2024 was believed to be on the property.

Reaction Officers check the engine and chassis number and found that the vehicle was stolen. A 61 year old male initially informed Officers that he had purchased the vehicle for R15 000 in cash and had no record of the seller.

He later informed Law Enforcement that the vehicle was given to him by a known panel beater who misled the client that the vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects from Palmview in Phoenix – KZN.

He offered no explanation as to why he had fitted fictitious numberplates on the bakkie while it was in his care.
The South African Police Services (SAPS) were called to the scene & the homeowner was taken in for questioning.
