Three suspected drug dealers arrested and drugs worth half a million rand seized by police in Waterberg District

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, hailed the arrest of three suspects and the confiscation of half a million rand worth of drugs

On Friday 19 January 2024, a Reactive Tactical Operation focusing on suspects dealing in drugs in the Waterberg District was conducted by the multi-disciplinary teams.

The operation yielded positive results that resulted in the apprehension of three suspects aged between 33 and 42 in connection with dealing in drugs at Pienaarsrivier policing precinct.

Police were busy with the operation in the Bela-Bela when they received information about two motor vehicles that were busy distributing drugs in the area and rushed to the area.

A white Kia Cereto and white Hyundai i10, both with Gauteng province registration numbers, were positively spotted and stopped by the police.

The motor vehicles with three males were searched, and police discovered a quantity of heroin drugs with an estimated street value of R500, 000.00

The trio were immediately arrested on the spot for dealing in drugs, and both motor vehicles used during the commission of the crime were also seized.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are foreign nationals who are from Pretoria, Gauteng Province.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of dealing in drugs.

Police investigations are continuing.
