Two suspects arrested for possession of a firearm and drugs

An intelligence driven operation conducted by Public Order Police (POP) members yielded positive results when two suspects were arrested in separate incidents within Chris Hani District.

On Monday, 22 January 2024, Police received an information about a man who is in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Ntwashini Locality outside Cofimvaba. A search was conducted and they recovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He was arrested and charged for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.

The recovered firearm is subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was not used in the commission of any crime in the District.

In a separate incident yesterday, 23 January 2024, Police continued in following information about a man that is delivering drugs in Queenstown. They spotted him near Nonesi Mall and was stopped and searched. Upon searching 1000 Boss Mandrax tablets to the street value of R10 000-00 was confiscated and suspect was immediately arrested for dealing in drugs.

The duo will appear Cofimvaba and Queenstown Magistrate Courts on Thursday, 25 January 2024.
