Gauteng secured 85 arrests and the subsequent recovery of 40 motor vehicles and 10 firearms

The continued fight against crime in Gauteng yielded positive results as police members conducted several crime prevention operations. From Friday 02 February to Thursday 08 February 2024, SAPS Rapid Response Services comprising of #FlyingSquad, #K9Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, secured 85 arrests and the subsequent recovery of 40 motor vehicles and ten firearms.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 30 suspects being arrested for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, business robbery, malicious damage to property, dealing in endangered species, theft, fraud, bribery, reckless and negligent driving and contravention of the Immigration Act.

A total of 40 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered, eight suspects were arrested for the possession of these vehicles. Ten unlicensed firearms were recovered with a total of nine arrests affected.

In drug related arrests, a total of 38 suspects were arrested for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cocaine, mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among drugs confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will soon be appearing in the local Magistrate’s Courts across Gauteng.
