Intelligence-driven operation leads to arrest of three suspects in Beaufort West

An intelligence-driven operation earlier this morning, by members attached to Beaufort West SAPS led to the arrests of three suspects aged between 32 and 34 on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, illegal possession of ammunition and the possession of suspected stolen property.

The member’s operationalised information received from the Western Cape Crime Intelligence of a white Nissan Navarra with two male occupants’ positively armed enroute to Eastern Cape to commit murder.

At 03:00 they found the identified vehicle on the N1 Beaufort West Industrial area and pulled them over with the assistance of Provincial Traffic. The three male occupants and the vehicle were searched upon which they found three 9 mm firearms with 44 rounds of ammunition.

Further investigations revealed that the firearms was reported stolen in Claremont and Milnerton during July 2010 and November 2023 respectively. The Nissan Navarra double cab which is suspected to be stolen was handed in as an exhibit pending further investigation.

Once charged the suspects will appear in the Beaufort West Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
