The Police at Mphephu, in Vhembe District have launched a manhunt for suspects who fatally wounded a 38-year-old man at Matidza village on Friday, 02 February 2024, at around 22:45.
It is reported that the victim was at the local scrap yard (workshop) with the owner and his friend sitting in a vehicle, when unknown suspects fired several shots at the vehicle. The 38-year-old was shot and killed in the process. The shooting apparently occurred shortly after the victim had just arrived at the scrap yard.
During the shooting, the owner of scrap yard and his friend managed to escape the attack unharmed by fleeing for safety. After the shooting, they found the victim seriously injured and was the man was certified dead by paramedics on the scene.
The Police opened a case of murder for further investigations.
