The South African Police Service (SAPS) will destruct over 18 000 firearms, firearm parts and ammunition in Vanderbijlpark. These firearms have been either forfeited to the State or voluntarily handed in.

The District Commissioner of Sedibeng, Major General Nkhensani Lemba will officiate the official firearm destruction process this morning. Maj Gen Lemba is joined by various senior SAPS management.

Some of these firearms have been used during the commission of a crime such as GBVF and cash-in-transit armed robberies.
