The vigilance by members attached to the Maitland Flying Squad saw the arrests of two suspects aged 25 and 31 in Athlone on Friday, 16 February 2024.
The members were busy with patrols in Athlone area when they received information about an armed robbery that occurred in Lentegeur earlier the day. A description of the getaway vehicle was given.
The members pulled over the vehicle when they spotted the vehicle. The members searched and found two imitation firearms inside the vehicle. The suspects face charges of armed robbery and possession of imitation firearms.
They will appear in the Athlone Magistrates court on Monday, 19 February 2024 on the mentioned charges.
