The Department is currently upgrading the kitchen of Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley. The newly
upgraded kitchen will serve as a more conducive working environment for kitchen🍽 staff that allows improved food safety and general hygiene.

The project includes demolition, structural work, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing upgrades, interior and exterior improvements, as well as cosmetic enhancements. A total of forty eight (48) employees are provided job opportunities of which nine are male, four females and thirty five youth.

The main contractor is responsible for the excavation of the foundation, construction of the main kitchen with window, door frames, suspended slabs and beams. In accordance with contractor development, four sub-contractors will conduct electrical work, install refrigeration, cooling equipment, tubing, supply catering equipment, as well as fire and gas cylinders.
