The P419 project will soon commence costing R297 million

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison Sipho Hlomuka today, 09 February 2024, officially handed over a contractor to the community of Bulwer that will soon commence with the construction of P419.

The project entails the upgrading of 11.00 kilometers from existing gravel to blacktop at an estimated total
construction cost of R297 million.

The road serves the communities of Pholela, Bidla, Zashuke, Bethlehem, Esphahleni, Etafuleni, and Nkwezela in Ward 9 and 12.

The road provides access to Mandlezizwe, Bhidla, Lubovana, Luhana, Zashuke, Siphahleni, Mphephetha, Siqhoza, Dingeka, Mzwendaba, Pholela Special, Bhambatha, Nkwezela Schools directly or via District and Local Roads. Pholela Health facility can be accessed directly from P419.

The project will create job opportunities for the locals and will also provide opportunities to emerging contractors through the implementation of the Contractor Participation Goals.
