The aspiration of a school search is to maintain order in schools, making sure that drugs do not enter school premises and preventing the involvement of young people in crime.
On Thursday, 15 February 2024, the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit, together with K9 Unit and Equestrian Unit members, conducted a school search in Pretoria west. The search emitted thriving outcomes as the headmaster of the school, teachers and parents showed
appreciation.
A total of 700 learners were searched. During the search, officers found two packets of dagga, three bottles of alcohol and two containers of space cookies.
The school took necessary disciplinary measures to address the learners’ behaviour.
A follow-up visit to the school will be conducted by the officers to set the seal on maintaining safer schools for everyone.
We plead with the community at large to be involved in keeping our schools a safer environment by curbing crime and violence in schools.
These visits are part of an ongoing programme and will be performed in all schools in Tshwane.
The TMPD is committed to preventing, managing and responding to incidents of crime and violence in schools. Well done to the officers involved.
