Two Apprehended for Separate Theft Incidents at Church and Business Premises in Pietermaritzburg

Two suspects were apprehended by Mi7 Reaction Officers for separate incidents of theft in Pietermaritzburg today.

In the first incident, during the early hours this morning, Mi7 National Group’s Control Room received an alarm activation from a church in the Westgate area. Mi7 Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to the premises.

While searching the premises, they caught a suspect in the act, stealing items from the church. The man was swiftly apprehended and the matter handed over to the police for further investigation

The arrest was a success due to the quick response times by Mi7 Reaction Officers, arriving at the premises before the suspect had the opportunity to flee.

Then, later this afternoon, a Bombay Road business client reported a theft which occurred at the premises. It is believed one suspect stole four vehicle tyres and fled. Mi7 Reaction Officers again arrived quickly to the premises and reviewed surveillance footage of the incident to ascertain a description of the suspect.

A widespread search ensued, and after some time, a man matching the description was seen carrying the tyres near Old Greytown Road. A chase ensued and the suspect was apprehended. He was taken back to the premises, along with the stolen tyres, where he was positively identified by the client who asked that the man be let go with a warning.
