Upgrade of 8.88 kilometres to blacktop standards at a contract value of R289 million on Main Road P417 in uMzimkhulu Local Municipality

Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Mondli Gungubele and KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka led the sod turning on Main Road P417 in uMzimkhulu Local Municipality.

The total project entails the upgrade of 8.88 kilometres to blacktop standards at a contract value of R289 million.
Minister Gungubele and MEC Hlomuka was joined by the Harry Gwala District Mayor, Cllr. Zamo Nxumalo, Umzimkhulu Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr. Jabulile Msiya, Local House of Traditional Leadership, iNkosi Fodo, local leaders and officials.

MEC Hlomuka then proceeded to Khiliva Community Hall where he officially handed over the contractor and engaged the community of Ward 22 on the socio economic benefits of the road development and job opportunities for emerging contractors and other job opportunities this project will inject into the area of Umzimkhulu Local Municipality.
