What are the rules of the road on longboarding in residential areas?

Question:

Please could I inquire with regards to longboarding as a mode of transport to and from school in a residential area?

Thank you for your response.

Answer:

A person may not drive or use a perambulator, invalid chair, baby cart or child’s play vehicle on a sidewalk. The person who drives the longboard must drive on the road. It is treated like a bicycle for rules of the road purposes.

Regulation 308
………..
(5) No person shall drive, pull or push a vehicle upon a sidewalk: Provided that the provisions of this subregulation shall not apply to a perambulator, invalid chair, baby cart or child’s play vehicle.
