Driver airlifted from the M4 by the La Mercy Bridge

At approximately 11:20 CERT volunteers received multiple calls for a accident on the M4 by the la mercy Bridge.

CERT volunteers together with emergency services were dispatched and upon arrival found an adult male in a critical condition. He was treated and stabilized by CERT volunteers together with paramedics before a decision was made to airlift him to an appropriate facility for the further care that he required. It is believed that the vehicle pulling a trailer came loose and hit into the vehicle causing the driver to have critical injuries.

The M4 was then closed in order for the AMS helicopter to land. Whilst on scene a secondary accident occurred further up the M4.The patients were treated by paramedics before being transported to hospital for further care. A huge thank you to IPSS Medical Rescue, Air Mercy Service (AMS),Metro Police, RTI , Elite Security and CERT volunteers for the quick response.
