Limpopo Provincial Commissioner hails anti-smuggling operation following recent arrest

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised the dedication and vigilance of the members of Provincial Murder and Robbery together with the Tracking team during the ongoing Anti-Smuggling Operation.

This follows the arrest of another male suspect today, on Thursday, 07 March 2024, in Modjadjislkoof policing area. The 44-year-old South African Citizen was cornered driving a Toyota Rav 4 on the R81 road, intended to be smuggled out of the county through the Beitbrige border post.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was hijacked at Brooklyn in Gauteng province on Monday 04 March.

“This arrest sends a clear message to those engaged in illegal smuggling activities that the SAPS remains committed and capable of disrupting their operations. Our officers continue to demonstrate exceptional skill,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The suspect will appear before Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 08 March 2024.
