Police are urging motorists to avoid using the Westville Road Kwadwesi Extension in Gqeberha due to violent protest actions taking place. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
At approximately 06:00 this morning, 19 March 2023, a group of approximately 300 community members congregated on the road and it has been reported that four vehicles (3 Trucks and bakkie) were set alight.
The reason for the protest is due to the housing development within the area of Kwadwesi Extension. The MMC and Councillors are in meetings with the community leadership.
Public Order Policing and Metro Police are on the scene.
